Arthur Douglas Webster

Arthur Douglas Webster was born in Nova Scotia and trained at McGill University, Montreal, where he earned his MD CM in 1878, and later at the University of Edinburgh, where he gained a BSc in Public Health in 1888. He served primarily as a military surgeon, initially attached to the 4th Battalion of the Royal Scots. During the First World War he served as Medical Officer to the 1st Edinburgh Battalion of the 15th Royal Scots and subsequently to the 16th, 17th, and 18th Battalions. He was awarded an OBE for his wartime service and published 'The Effervescing Saline Bath (Nauheim Bath)' and 'Resistance Exercises in the Treatment of Heart Cases'. He died in Edinburgh in 1941 aged eighty-five.
