Angus McDonald

Angus McDonald was from Moffat, the son of Angus M'Donald and Catherine Johnston. He was baptised on 29 June 1751. He was a medical student in the University of Edinburgh between 1771 and 1772 but was awarded MD on 10 January 1789 from the University of St Andrews. His exam was signed by Prof. Alexander Monro, who was a Professor of Medicine, Anatomy and Surgery at the University of Edinburgh. McDonald was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1794. McDonald initially practised medicine at Moffat and then from 1792 onwards at Taunton for more than thirty three years. After his retirement, he continued to reside at Taunton. He died on 2 September 1825 and his obituary was published in The Gentleman's Magazine.
