Andrew St. Clair

Date of Fellowship admission: 3 November 1724
Andrew St Clair received his medical degree from the University of Angers on 10 July 1720. He was licensed to practise on 25 February 1724 and admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 3 November that same year. In 1726, alongside Rutherford, Plummer, and Innes, he petitioned the Town Council to establish medicine as a university subject. He was subsequently appointed Professor of the Theory and Practice of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, where he later also taught physiology and the institutes of medicine. St Clair was a member of the Society of Medical Practitioners and of the Edinburgh Philosophical Society from 1739.
