Alexander Somerville Cumming

Alexander Somerville Cumming trained and worked in Edinburgh. He earned his MB CM from the University of Edinburgh in 1884 and his MD in 1888, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in the same year. He held hospital posts in the city, including Junior House Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary and Extra Physician at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. He also served as Physician to the New Town Dispensary and as Lecturer and Clinical Instructor in Diseases of Children at the Medical College for Women. He retired in 1915 and died in 1938.
