Alexander James Sinclair

Alexander James Sinclair was born circa 1848 and studied in Edinburgh, graduating MD in 1872. He worked as a Demonstrator of Anatomy at Surgeons' Hall before moving to Penrith later that year, having previously served there as assistant to Dr Taylor. In Edinburgh he served as Medical Officer to the City Parish and Consulting Physician to the City Poorhouse at Craiglockhart. He became a Fellow of the College in 1874 and had previously acted for several years as Examiner in Anatomy and Physiology. He was active in many Edinburgh medical and scientific societies and was Vice President of the Edinburgh Obstetrical Society at the time of his death on 23 February 1889.
