Alexander Cranstone

Date of Fellowship admission: 29 November 1681
Alexander Cranstone was one of the original twenty-one Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh when it was incorporated by royal charter on 29 November 1681. His name was written twelfth on the charter. Cranstone served as Treasurer of the College from 1683 and was appointed Procurator Fiscal in 1684. He was the first Vice-President and Censor of the College in 1694. In 1695 he delivered a discourse before the College on an aphorism of Hippocrates. Cranstone was also elected to the committee for revising the 'Edinburgh Pharmacopoeia' on 9 March 1697. He died in 1699.
