Alexander Boyle

Alexander Boyle was born in Aberdeen in 1771. He received his MD from Marischal College, Aberdeen, on 28 August 1812. Boyle joined the British Army and was stationed in Saint John, New Brunswick, from 1817 to 1822. In 1818 he married Cornelia Jane Boyd and helped establish the Provincial Vaccine Establishment in Saint John. After leaving the army in 1822, Boyle was appointed medical officer at the Kent Marine Hospital. In 1825 he returned briefly to Scotland and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh before resuming practice in Saint John, where he died in 1854.
