Albert Hirst

Albert Hirst trained at Guy's Hospital, London, and also studied in Glasgow and Manchester. He became a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1871 and earned his MD from the University of St Andrews in 1888. His career included service as Medical Officer on a plantation in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, and as ship's surgeon on the SS City of Mecca. He lectured for the St John Ambulance Association and acted as Medical Referee for several assurance companies. He later served as Physician to the Queen Adelaide Dispensary in London and died in Hackney in 1908.
