
John Crichton
This interview was part of the free public exhibition Moonstruck: 500 years of mental health which ran at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh from 14 June 2019 to Spring 2020.
At the time of this interview John Crichton was consultant forensic psychiatrist at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. John studied psychology and medicine at Nottingham University. He completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge in the management of challenging behaviour involving psychiatric patients. John has published widely on forensic psychiatry and is the Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland. In this interview John discusses the improvements which are needed to mental health provision and challenges such as an ageing population, drug use and social media.
