The College President is elected from our Fellowship and represents the organisation and the views of our Fellows and Members at national and international levels. The President leads College Council and works closely with Office Bearers, Council and the Senior Management Team to develop and work towards a strategy, forward plan and budget that aligns with the College’s core aims.
The President also undertakes various ceremonial duties on behalf of the College throughout the year. The current President of the College is Professor Mark Strachan.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the College and is chaired by the President. Members of the Board of Trustees are charity trustees and have general control and management of the administration of the College.
The College's Council is comprised of elected Office Bearers, appointed Office Bearers, directly elected Fellows, representatives from the Trainees and Members' Committee, Lay Committee, and other Faculties and Colleges.
The College has active and respected committees, who help shape the support we offer to physicians and the healthcare profession more widely. In addition to our Council and Committees, we are governed by our College Laws and Royal Charter.
The Senior Management Team comprises the Chief Executive and three Directors. SMT is responsible for taking forward the objectives outlined in the College’s strategic plan, ensuring the smooth operation of our core activities, and maintaining compliance with legal and financial obligations. The team promotes an integrated approach to implementing the College strategy and ensuring efficient management of operational matters.
