No27. Janr 8th 1788.
Ann Craig. at 24 is frequently affected with the sense of a ball rising from her stomach to the oesophagus. It particularly attacks her at bed time. She has also frequently the sensation as if small animals were creeping through her upper & lower extremities & this feeling is attended with a great sense of heat in her head neck & shoulders. She has often also a tendency to deliquium with great dejection of spirits & dreadful apprehensions of danger. Pulse 100 & weak. Belly natural appetite impaird. Menses irregular not having appeared for these two months past, & she says they never were seen at any stated time. These symptoms came on about six weeks ago. She attributes them to a fright at that time. She has used no remedies. Rx. Pulv. Valer. Sylv. ℥ p Cal Zinci ℥i.Mcap. coch parv. ter de die Janr 12. Has some slight sickness from the powders; but without vomiting Her other symptoms continue much as before; & ever since her complain began she has been constantly affected with profuse sweatings during the night. Cont. Pulv. Valer cum Cal. Zin. nec non. sumat om. m. & vesp. Pil. e Camph. gr V 19 Symptoms upon the whole [easr] & she is particularly less affected with sweatings during the night. Cont. Med. u. a. 26 Has been much affected with vomiting which she ascribed to her medicines. They were intermitted on the 22d inst. & since that she has taken the aromatic [mixt] vomiting now gone But her other symptoms continue much as before Cont. Mist Aromat. & cap ℥p bis indies 28 Has been much affected with a sense of burning heat in her stomach & bowels attended with excessive thirst Hab. Pulv. Crem. Tart. ℥p. solv in Ag. Bul. lb. ii. pro [polic] ord. Febr 2 The sense of heat & thirst are much diminishd since he began the solution. Other symptoms continue easier Interm. Mist. Tinct. Aromat Cont. Solut. Crem. Tart. u. a. 9 Still complains of thirst & heat but in other respects, she continues easier Cont. Pulv. Crem. Tart. u. a. nec non Rx. Spt Vitriol ten ℥i. Mucil. G. Arab Ag. Font aa ℥iiiMcap. ℥p. bis indies 16 Is now much less affected with the thirst & heat. But she complains of wind in her stomach Interm. Pulv. Crem Tart. Cont. Mist. add. Ag. Menrg. Rx. ℥ii 23 The sense of heat & thirst have been much encreasd since the last report. But in other respects she continues easier. Cont. Mist. u. a March 1. Is now little affected with heat or thirst. but complains of pain in her back & sides Cont. Med. u. a. 8. Is now little affected with the heat or thirst & all her other symptoms continue easier.
