    Donald Frazer

    (1786-1787)

    Donald Frazer.

In case of this pat. a distinct markd inst of Chron Catarh.

A disease of which have alr. oftener than once had occas to speak in pres. course.

And of which deliv sentim at last lect.

Now therfore alm unnecss to add any thing respect. it.

Espec as inst before us occurd without any pecul sympt.

    And as already fav termin.

How far however can with any justice attrib this to med here empl. a matter of doubt.

Yet may venture to say that at least no bad effect.

And prob. even contrib to cure.

Began by direct repeated Emet for unload breast.

And Infus of Nicot. as diuret.

In obv operat of both expect [illegible ].

For while vomits very full effect thought also urine encr.

A conseq perhaps in some degree to be attrib to emet.

For after these, not unfreq obs.

Perhaps however more from water introd for prom action, than from vomit itself.

For this on contrar obs. even rather to have opp. effect.

In so much indeed that Emet recomm in Diabetes.

But though in part from water taken with Emet yet more Nicot.

At least this prob. from gener. effect.

But from whatever cause might have exp. from this as well as from unload breast some relief of cough.

This however did not at least immed take place.

For at succeed report found that cough still cont. to be very severe.

Hoped however, that by contin, desired effect might be obt.

Hence directed not only that should persist in use, but encr. quant.

Accord ordered 20 drops ter de die.

But at same time became necess also to move belly.

And with this intent directed comp. powdr of Crem Tart.

Only however in such quant as to have gentle effect.

Whether from these remed. change induc in disease or not yet such change took place.

And at succeed report, cough so far mitig that was himself disp. to think farther attend [unnecs]

And at least presumpt that benef by pract empl.

At same time cannot be consid as cured.

For from even slight expos to cold liab. to recurr of affect.

And by no means improb. that during late cold wind may in reality have taken place.
