    William Gray

    (1782-1783)

    Wm Gray.

Case of this patient consisted entirely of pect. compl.

And at first somewhat doubtful whethr to be consid as of Catarrh or Phthis kind.

Was however, upon whole, rather disp to adopt former opin.

And fav termin of case has since I think shewn that in this not mist.

On suppos of Catarrh, began with use of Emet.

From this had in view, both to empty stom, & unload breast.

At same time however, directed also an electuary of Crem of Tart. & Flour of Sulph.

A compos. from which in Catarh cases, have often seen great benef. derived

And these good effects, I [appreh.] readily expl. from influ both as cathart, & diuret.

In operat, in these ways, were not disapp.

And prob in conseq of that, very consid mitig of affect soon obt.

Still howevr continud in some degree, to be at times affected with severe cough.

This, inclind to attrib, to mucus acquiring state, in which could not readily be expect.

With view therfore to prom more free expect had recourse to Squil P.

And from these, mitig of this sympt seemd soon to be obtaind.

Accord in no long time, dismissd free from all his sympt.
