    James Wilson

    (1782-1783)

    No16. James Wilson at 69

A robust man of a rough skin & dark complexion, has an eruption of white pimples which are broad flat & sometimes confluent & contain under them a serous & purulent fluid. This affection extends over all the left shoulder, part of the left breast & ascends to the nape of the neck

There is in some places a considerable superficial inflammation which seems to be encreasd by the weight of her cloathes & a considerable quantity of matter adhering to his shirt. The rest of his body is clean excepting some black blotches on his hands which he attributes to their being much exposed to cold in consequence of his employment.

Pulse 60 full & strong. Tongue moist but whitish. Belly rather loose. Appetite & thirst natural

    General health good.

This affection appeared on Saturday night last without any known cause. He has not lately fed on fish & he has never formerly been subject to any similar complaint. He has had some powders of Cream of Tartar which he has taken regularly since his disease began without any considerable alteration in the state of the eruption

Cap. om. m. Pulv. Crem Tart ℥i nec non lavatur partes affecta solut. Sach. Saturn.

Dec 7. The Cream of Tartar makes very little alteration on the state of his belly. He has used the solution of Sach. Saturn. every evening & morning & the parts affected with the eruption are somewhat less inflamed than at the last report. Cont Solut Saturn. Interm. Pulv. Crem. Tart. & Cap. Sal. Glaub. ℥ip bis in 7 mana

    14. Is now almost entirely free from the eruption on his shoulder, but complains of some small in his neck which seem to be enlargd lymphatic glands. The salts operated well. Interm Solut Saturn Illin Ungt Saturn. partibus affectis & Repet. Sal. Glaub. semel in 7 ma.

21 The salts operated well & the eruption is now almost entirely gone.

    Let him be dismissd.
