This affection extends over all the left shoulder, part of the left breast & ascends to the nape of the neck There is in some places a considerable superficial inflammation which seems to be increased by the weight of [his] clothes & a considerable quantity of matter adhering to his shirt. The rest of his body is clean excepting some black blotches on his hands which he attributes to their being much exposed to cold in consequence of his employment. Pulse 60 full & strong. Tongue moist but whitish. Belly rather loose. Appetite & thirst natural General health good. This affection appeared on Saturday night last without any known cause. He has not lately fed on fish & he has never formerly been subject to any similar complaint.
