May 22d 1782 Has a sore on the metatarsus of the right foot which is considerably inflammed & has suppurated. This suppuration is attended with a very disagreeable smell & a swelling of the adjacent parts especially the ancle. All the functions natural About five years since his foot was run over by a cart wheel, for a year after which it continued only swelld and not painful. But soon after it inflamed & suppurated & since that it has remaind a running sore. He has long been a patient in the Infirmary which he left about eight days ago, and was ordered to Leith for the bathing in the sea, and drinking sea water. But he thinks his foot has been rather worse since that time. When in the Infirmary he had a poultice & took the bark thrice a day. Rx. Pulv. Rad Mezer. grii. Cort.
