    James Brown

    (1777-1778)

Case of James Brown exhib affect with regard to nature of which great doubts.

Yet circum of headach, dilat of pupils & other partic gave some evid of idiopath affect of head.

And presumpt even that depended on water.

But whethr this conject well founded or not, little doubt that by blisters & cathart affect to which subj for space of several months were overcome.

And from this termin in case am I own inclind to inferr both that some truth in conject as to cause, & like wise that same means evac water from other places will also prod evac from brain, or at least from cavit of Cranium
