    Marian Mosman

    1789

    No21 December 22d 1789.

Marian Mosman at 40 a married woman, has her menstrual evacuation in less considerable quantity than usual, though it generally takes place at the regular periods. She is affected also at these periods with a sense of fullness & suffocation. Her abdomen is considerably swelled, & feels hard to the touch, but without any evident fluctuation. The swelling is diminished after each menstrual period but increases again upon the approach of the discharge.

Pulse 64 & soft, Belly regular, Appetite in general good.

Her complaints have subsisted for three years past, & arose as she thinks from a severe fever, which she had at that time. They have of late increased in severity, particularly the pain & swelling of the abdomen. She has taken no remedies.
