Janet Campbell
(1789)
No 24. Janet Campbell at 40.
In case of this patient have I think a distinctly marked instance of Leucorrhoea. At least if can at all rely upon account given us. For principal part of disease discharge of White matter by Vagina And not only her own assertion for its not being venereal but also many other concurring circumstances. Particularly its connection with menstrual discharge. The absence of ardor urinae The length of time for which has continued. The cause from which originates And finally other symptoms with which attended, loss of strength & appetite, palpitations faintings etc. From all these taken together pretty certain diagnosis. And from this view of it, may also add that shall find it an obstinate affection. In such cases as present have chiefly to hope for recovery by restoring uterine vessels to proper state. And this chiefly to be expected from tonics or astringents as Peruvian Bark or Alum. To some one or both of these therefore may soon have recourse. But no less necessary to do something with view of obviating symptoms. And is chiefly with this intention that have had recourse to only medicine yet directed. A stomachic mixture viz consists of aromatic & bitter tinctures. But reserve farther observations till again speak of case.
