Can be no doubt that principle symptom in case of this patient stomach ailment. Here however a matter of some doubt whether are to consider him as labouring under Dyspepsia or Hypochondria. For at least most of symptoms to which is subjected in common to both. Some particularly indeed which may be considered as rather favouring supposition of Hypochondria. Especially depression of spirits, & sense of coldness. For latter especially as [particularly] occurring in feet, back, or like, a very common symptom of that affection. And formerly mentioned affection particularly as marked in depression of spirits well known to constitute a great part of the disease. May add also as farther evidence of Hypochondria the continuation of the affection. For already we are told subjected to it for no less than two years. But on other hand circumstance of age great objection. For at least a very rare occurrence to observe it, at so early period of life. And may yet hope that will turn out a less obstructive affection. In mean time am attempting to combat it by use of ordinary stomachicus. And from effect of these will be determined both in opinion of disease & as to future practices.
