Of case of this patient have not formed a decided opinion. Symptoms to which subjected such as may occur from various causes. And may even add attendant of different diseases. Most if not all of them not unfrequently occur, as mere dyspeptic symptoms or stomach ailments. And can be no doubt that what may be called Dyspepsia here occurs. Here indicated by pain of stomach, inclination to vomit, flatulence etc. But probable that here merely symptom. And reason to presume that occurs [also] as symptoms of Hysteria or Amenorrhea Former supposition chiefly countenanced, by age of patient, frequency of disease & sense of Globus. But of the two reckon latter most probable. Catamenia indeed when obstructed as frequently consequence as cause of disease. But in that case follow only some time after other symptoms have occurred. Here however obstruction took place at commencement of affection. And none of symptoms mentioned which do not frequently occur as consequence of obstruction. In hopes therefore that on restoration of discharge all symptoms may be removed And for this purpose have thoughts of trying electricity. But wish first to try effects, of remedy obviating flatulence & gently bracing system. Not so much from hopes of great benefit as that may have opportunity of judging more accurately of disease, & particularly of observing whether any reason to suspect that obstruction the effect of pregnancy.
