In case of this patient a distinctly marked instance of Epilepsia. And in many of circumstances as shall afterwards have occasion to mention rather favourable than otherwise. At same time need hardly add, that this disease in general a very obstinate one. And very [considerable] majority of instances found irremovable by any means we can employ. Such an [event] particularly to be dreaded where before proper remedy tried disease of so long standing as to become as it were habitual. But often happens in cases [appearing] slightest & most favourable. At least if except those where cause of accidental & transitory nature. As for example where proceeds from smallpox, Worms or like. Latter of these indeed suspected to be [case] with present patient. And some circumstances as pain in bowels grinding of teeth & like, gave countenance to this supposition. But before she came under our care different anthelmintics tried without producing any effect in discharge of worm. Conclude therefore conjecture to be groundless. And accordingly have begun treatment on a different plan. By use viz of a remedy which seems to operate in removing tendency to inordinate action in muscles. Viz Cuprum Ammoniala And to this if no circumstance [illegible] to alter plan, mean to give full & fair trial.
