Nicolas Hayley
1787
No5 November 7th. 1787
Nicolas Hayley at 50, complains of very acute pain in the fore part of his head which extends from thence to the temples & down to the lower jaw. This pain is particularly severe when he becomes warm in bed, & it is also much affected by sudden changes of weather. His strength is much impaired since this complaint began; but in other respects his health is not much affected. Pulse about 76 & tolerably regular. Belly at present natural, but it was rather bound till he used some purgative pills These pains first attacked him about eight months ago. They supervened to a severe blow on the back part of his head with a cudgel which was followed by the exfoliation of a small piece of bone. He became first affected with the present pain when the cut in his head healed up. He has used various medicines but without any sensible benefit. Cap. Pulv. Valer coch parv. ter de die & sumat. Pil.
