In history of this patients case many symptoms enumerated. But little doubt in considering all of them as Hysteria symptoms. A disease well known to put on great diversity of appearances. But here sufficiently characterised by Globus Hystericus, & headache. Not improbable as patient herself suspected that may have originated from obstructed & scanty menstrual. But whether this the case or not now little doubt as to obstinacy of [disease] After so long continuation could not even expect, that, by natural menstrual discharge And utmost that here look for is alleviation of affection. Which chiefly to be expected by obviating inordinate action of alimentary canal & strengthening tone. For this purpose have with latter intention had recourse to vegetable bitters & aromatics. And with former to Assafoetida. Article in such instances not unfrequently product of some advantage. Still more however to be expected here, from regular exercise in open air & cold bathing. But to former, season of year occurs as objection, & to latter [circumstances] of our patient. This however shall at least enjoin as far as circumstances will [permit] And of effects shall afterwards here speak.
