In case of this patient distinct characteristics of a very common & at same time a very obstinate affection. That modification of Rheumatism viz seated chiefly in one of inferior extremities particularly in thigh. And which from situation has name of Sciatica. Of chief morbid affection on which this disease depends different opinions entertained. And am inclined to think, that in reality a foundation for different opinion. That is that disease does not uniformly or invariably arise from one morbid affection only. And present case as shall afterwards endeavour to show not without peculiarity These also not in favour of speedy recovery. While at same time also an unfavourable circumstance that has already resisted several different modes of cure. Still however many other active remedies which may be held not without prospect of success. And inclined to hope that may have satisfaction of dismissing patient free from affection. Have you will observe put him on use of Oleum Terebinth. A remedy of which have not for my own part much experience. But of effects & of different conjectures as to modus operandi shall afterwards speak at more length. Here mean to give it fair trial. If fails, have thoughts of directing issue or having recourse to electricity. But in this determined by future circumstances
