(1786-1787)
No25. Agnes Turner at 32
Case of this patient in many respects doubtful. And must own cannot form any decided opinion respecting it. In swellings & condition of urine some indication of dropsical affection. And not improbable that will terminate in this. At same time not distinctly marked And with anomalous [appearance] as [illegible] [sensation]. Not improbable even that pregnant. For a married woman, & without menses for three months. Shall therefore probably do but little till can form more distinct idea of case Have therefore as means of obviating some symptoms had recourse to Spirit Vitriol diffused in Mucilaginous Mixture This may have some influence as quenching thirst & increasing urine & thus diminishing ardor. And hope also in restraining vomiting. If disappointed may try other articles with same intention. Such for example as Cream of Tartar. But in choice directed by circumstances at time And for radical cure, cannot propose any plan, till more decided judgment as to nature of disease
