In case of this patient many of common symptoms of Anasarca. Such at least as sufficient to characterise. Swelling. Scarcity of Urine. Dyspnoea etc But this case also not without [peculiarity] As such may mention tense feeling of swelling. Common in integumentary of abdomen & even vomiting. But these am inclined to think in part if not altogether to be explained from cause by which induced. For here little doubt that effect of obstruction of menstrual discharge. Or rather of suspension of that [evacuation] For patient has you will observe arrived at that period of life when commonly ceases. A period always very critical with females. And often even inducing affection in end fatal. Hence though but of recent standing & without any very alarming symptoms can hardly venture to give favourable prognosis For removal of cause, that is restoration of menstrual discharge hardly an objective to be wished for. And till habit undergoes considerable change, so that no longer want of [accustomed] evacuation danger of continuation. Or at least of recurrence of affection in some form or other. Yet hope that by common treatment of Anasarca may at least remove present complaint. Particularly by use of medicine combining gentle diuretic & cathartic power. Is with this intention that recourse to Cream of Tartar with Jalap.
