    Jean Frazer

    (1786-1787)

    No15 Jean Frazer at 26th

A distinctly marked case of Epilepsy

Nothing uncommon either in preceding or consequential symptoms.

Nor in progress of disease since first commencement.

When however consider gradual increase of severity for three years may pronounce it an obstinate affection.

Especially as very considerable variety of remedies already employed in vain.

And that too as informed under direction of able practitioners.

Here then very faint hopes of recovery.

Especially as disease has already undeniably impaired state of mental faculties.

For this generally marks irrecoverable cases.

From these circumstances however not altogether led to despair of cure.

For certain that recovery at one time from medicine employed in vain on [former] [occasion]

A circumstance encouraging to repeated trial.

Here have put patient on Cuprum Ammoniala.

A remedy which in some epileptic cases have employed with great advantage.

Cannot indeed represent it, as generally or even frequently successful.

For greater part of cases incurable by any remedy.

But in some under use [complete] [recovery]

And little doubt in attributing to [remedy]

Here therefore full & fair trial

Gradually increase dose while borne with ease

    If ineffective conjoin with Zinc.

Or trial of Zinc by itself in [first] [instance]
