    DEP/DUA/1/38/26 (Normalised version)

    William Walker

    (1785-1786)

    No27. William Walker. at 35.

In case of this patient many of those symptoms which the common attendants of Phthisis.

And although would not pronounce affection as decidedly such yet at least very strong presumption of it.

While at same time also I think reason to look upon it as being of tuberculous kind.

And with this idea of disease need hardly add that consider danger of patient as being very great

Indeed if not mistaken in conjecture probable that in no long time will prove fatal.

And that too notwithstanding every [endeavour] that can employ for recovery

Patient however in such a situation that besides merely obviating symptoms measures may at least be tried with view to radical cure.

And after prescribing a vomit have you will observe put this patient as well as some former ones on use of Gum Myrrh

Will afford at least another opportunity of observing effects.

But I own, that cure by means of it in this case, is more than expect.

Here have thoughts of conjoining with it another practice.

A drain viz. under form of issue from pained part of breast

And if no other effect may at least alleviate pain & cough.

But as already observed neither from this nor any other medicine have I here much expectation
