    DEP/DUA/1/38/20 (Normalised version)

    William Ritchie

    (1785-1786)

    21. William Ritchie at 24 is affected with symptoms which give too much reason to dread that he labours under Phthisis Pulmonalis.

And am I own very apprehensive that notwithstanding all we can do for his relief, he will soon fall victim to the affection.

Here however as in [case] of David Bickerton intend also to make trial of Gum Myrrh.

And am from the beginning [employing] it in combination with Sal. Chalybeate.

If from this medicine reap any advantage will naturally persist in use.

But if disease has rapid increase & opportunity afforded for other trials, may have recourse to weak infusion of digitalis.
