    Betty Lindsay

    1785

    New Cases. December. 3d 1785

Since last lecture Three new cases inserted into register1.

14th. In case of Betty Lindsay a married woman in 29th year an example of a Rheumatic affection.

And that I think distinctly marked in state of irritability.

This I am attempting to combat by extract of Hyoscyamus.

An article which while possesses in several respects the sedative powers of opium, have often in such cases found product of considerable advantage.

Particularly as allaying at least for a time the peculiar sensibility on which pains depends.

But to secure advantage shall probably [subjoin] to it use of Peruvian Bark.

And hope with effect of alleviating if not removing complaint of patient.

    Explanatory notes:

    1) References are made throughout the case notes to a dispensary patient register. However, no evidence has been found that this register survives.
