Margaret Russell at 50 as soon as she takes any food, feels a sensation as of wind passing from her stomach up her right side to the top of her head, whence it descends to her right eye, which is very weak & almost closed. She frequently throws up her food by mouthfuls, upon which she perceives a very sour taste in her mouth. She is sensible of a ball rising from her stomach a little way up the oesophagus. She complains of a pain in the right side of the Thorax which affects her respiration & she is also affected with pain on the hip & outside of the right thigh a little above the joint. Pulse natural. Belly regular. Catamenia have disappeared for two years. The complaints are of two years standing, but have increased very much within these nine months She attributes them to a very copious bloodletting about two years ago for a pain of her side since which the Catamenia have never appeared although they were quite regular before. She has used many medicines without benefit. But thinks her head & eye relieved by a blister applied behind the ear a few days ago. App. vesic pone aurum sinist & postea. f. fontic ope Ungt.
