    John Stark

    1784

    No28 January 30th 1784

John Stark at 19 is very weak & emaciated. He has about twenty four whitish slimy stools in the course of the day & night

They are in small quantity & unmixed with blood. He complains of a pain at the bottom of the fundament which is so violent, that he cannot sit down or walk without suffering the most excruciating torment. He has also a slight hard cough, & feels a pain in the chest part particularly in the morning.

    Pulse frequent appetite bad.

The Diarrhoea has continued for ten weeks, but he had only one stool yesterday & another this forenoon & the pain at the anus is much abated. He attributes this change to a mixture with the Confection Japonica, which he has been taking for these two or three days.
