Christian Hill.
Case of this patient consider as example of Hysteria. Not however under form of regular hysteria fits, but of what would call merely hysteria symptoms. Of these the most distressing Globus hysteria & affection of Urine. With view to latter, ordered dulcified Spirit of Nitre Against former, & indeed against affections in general, directed Calc of Zinc with Valerian. From both these medicines in no long time obtained good effects. At first indeed Spirit of Nitre seemed to have little influence, in quantity then directed But on giving double quantity with which began, urine restored to natural state. When first began use of Zinc sat easily upon stomach Was soon less frequently affected with Globus hysteria rising to throat And flying pain very much diminished From these [appearances] had hopes of cure from continuation And accordingly at end of 2d week all symptoms still farther mitigated. But now powder often occasions sickness sometimes vomiting. This therefore led to change of formula. And in place of Valerian employed Potio Cretacea. But even in this state also did not easily sit upon stomach. From which, reason to infer that former vomiting the effects of the Zinc. Now however farther continuation became unnecessary. For patient no longer affected with former symptoms. And was therefore dismissed from farther attendance being at least for present free from affection.
