    DEP/DUA/1/22/19 (Normalised version)

    James Burton

    (1779-1780)

which have been under care for considerable time since had last occasion to speak of them.

In former lecture have already had occasion to state sentiments & explain views in practice, with regard to about 40 patients treated during present course

As winter session however now draws to conclusion shall beg leave to employ present lecture in taking short review of some cases

With James Burton made trial of Simarouba as prop.

But without affect of curing disease

This however less surprising as although obtained genuine bark yet very far from being of good quality.

Not therefore to be wondered at that looseness rather aggravated under it

For to be considered as little more than introduction of so much water.

But if had even found it of best quality case of such nature that success very doubtful or even hardly to be expected.

Affords therefore no conclusion against medicine.
