This project, carried out in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, has created an online digital edition of the medical correspondence of Dr William Cullen (1710-1790).
Cullen was born in 1710 (the second son in a family of seven children).
His first schooling was in Hamilton where his father was the factor of the Duke of Hamilton’s large estate. In his teens he moved to Glasgow where 
he attended medical classes at the university and was bound apprentice to Mr John Paisley of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons. Mr Paisley had a large medical library which he encouraged his apprentices to use.
