    Edward Crane

    1790

    No.26. Jan 20th. 1790.

Edward Crane at 45, by trade a weaver, is affected with pain at his stomach, flatulence & loss of appetite, attended with frequent vomiting of a viscid fluid which has a very acrid taste. He complains also of violent pain in his left side, which is at times so severe as to prevent any muscular exertion

Pulse about 60 & weak, Tongue white, Belly bound, Strength diminishd.

He has been affected with these symptoms for these three years past, & he knows no cause to which they can be ascribd. He had been accustomed to drink spirituous liquors very freely before the accession of the present complaints, but since that he has discontinued the use of them.

The only remedies he has hitherto used are vomits & some stomachic pills. But they have been productive of no considerable relief Cap. Mist. Tinct. Aromat. ℥p om. n. bis indies nec non sumat. Pil. Foetid cum Aloe gr V om. n.
