In case of this patient have an evid affect of the alim canal. At pres is in my opin cheifly effect of dimin tone in intest. And that, the conseq of violent action, to which were subj, from accid colic. From loss of tone, distens from flatus, operates as stimul, inducing inord action. And from this prob., both pains & looseness. In these affect have often disease of consid obstin. And partic though allev for a time, yet apt to be renewed by slight causes. Accord with pres patient, after subs, again induced, by return to work. Prob the effect of expos to cold giving determ from surf, to intern parts. May however hope that by restor tone to alim canal, this may be prev. Relief however still soonr to be expected, from dimin irritab or tend to action. Is with these intent then, that have directed a mixt with bitter & arom [tinct] some of best stomach tonics And have added proport of Laud, as most effect means of allaying morb irrit. From these hopeful that patien may be restord to health But if this not case, provided [no] change on sympt, may make trial of Colomb root, or Cortex Angust. Of [practices] howevr reserve observ till again speak of case.
