Of the case of this patient, at a loss to form decided opin. Can however be little doubt, that is subj to diff. affect. And while cough & dyspn. attend with mucous expect give indicat of a pulm affect,perhaps even conseq of abscess in lungs arising from injur received, am I own inclind to think that pains in diff parts partic in head, depend on an affect of Rheum kind. Is chiefly with this view that have had here recourse to trial of G. Guaiac under form of comp. powd. An artic from which in many inst of Rheum kind, think I have seen very consid benef. And which may be empl. with safety & adv. when neither Volat Tinct, Simple Elix, or other forms of giving Guaiac, can with safety be empl. While however empl this, have also had recourse to Opium, as a means of mitig pains. And from effects of these, shall prob. be hereafter able, to form more decis judgem of case. For at pres can say nothing with confid, either as to Prognos or Pract.
