    William Torrence

    1789


    No34 March 3d 1789.

    Wm Torrence at 26 is frequently attackd with fits in which his extremities are much convulsed, & he foams at the mouth. These fits continue each time for about a quarter of an hour. When they leave him he is ignorant of every thing that has passed around him during the course of the fit, & remains for some time after in a state of languor & fatuity.

    These fits first appeard about four years ago. But for a long time they attackd him only during the night. Of late however they have occured more frequently & have attackd him also during the day. When attackd in the day time he falls insensible to the ground & has sometimes hurt himself very much by these falls.

    In other respects he is in perfect health & has used no medicines.

    Has taken the pills regularly, without any sickness, or other inconvenienc

    Had no sickness from the encreased dose of the pills. Continues free from any return of fit; & thinks he is much less affected with stupor than before.

    Had a fit on the night of Saturday last, but the day following he was not in any degree affected with stupor which had succeeded former fits, & he continues to be more recollected than before. He has no sickness or other inconvenience from the pills.

    March 28

    Has had no fit since the last report. He continues in other respects easier, & has no sickness from the Pills. Cont. Pil. u. a.

    Has no uneasiness from the Pills & has had no fit since the last report

    Has no sickness at stomach or other uneasiness from the augmented dose of the pills. He has had no fit since the last report & in other respects he is much relievd.
