    Kitty Ord

    1789

    No26. Janr 20th. 1789.

Kitty Ord. at 10 is frequently during the course of the day attacked with fits in which the umbilicus is contracted to the spine, & her extremities are slightly convulsed, but she does not foam at the mouth. She is ignorant of what passes during the paroxism but says that it generally begins, with a sense of suffocation in the Trachea. These fits are commonly terminated by coughing & they leave her for some time after in a state of languor & fatuity.

They are not always of the same duration, nor do they observe any regular period of accession. They are observed to be excited by any sudden emotion of the mind. Pulse regular at present, but during the paroxism it is remarkably feeble. Belly costive, Catamenia have not yet appeared. Appetite & other functions natural.

These fits first came on about a year ago, but without the sense of a ball in the Trachea at that time. She remained free from any attacks during the summer. But about a forthnight ago they returnd without any manifest cause. She passed some worms by stool about two years ago, & is at present observed to grind her teeth at night & to pick her nose Has used no medicines Rx. Zinci Praecip grV
