    No12. Novr 11th. 1788

    Margt Calder at 11, complains of much distension of her stomach & abdomen, attended with pain & hardness, & she says that at times it appears to be discoloured, which however is not the case at present.

    She is also often affected with, nausea, anorexia, headach, heat of her skin & flushing of her face which particularly occurr in the evenings

    Pulse frequent, Belly costive, she sleeps ill, & is often heard to cry during her sleep.

    These complaints first began about eight months ago, but at present they are much aggravated.

    On their first appearance she took some powder of Tin, which procured a discharge by stool of a great quantity of small worms, which from the description given appear to have been ascarides.

    She has taken the powders as directed, & after their use she discharged some ascarides. She has seen none of them for some days past, but is still much affected with the pain & distension of her stomach & abdomen. Belly rather bound.

    The mixture sits easy on her stomach, but she is still much affected with the pain & swelling of her stomach. No more worms have been discharged. Belly bound.

    The pills have kept her belly open & she has been less distressd with the swelling of her stomach but she has discharged some ascarides for several days past.

    Has of late been frequently affected with excruciating pains in different parts of her body. They begin with a sense of contraction in her hands, & are afterwards particularly severe in her belly & head.

    Has taken the mixture as directed but the attacks of pain continue nearly as before, & particularly occur every night about ten o’Clock

    She has passed no worms since Tuesday last.
