Case of this patient a doubtful & in some respects a highly danger one. For if not certainly at least strong suspic of Phthis. And this occurring, as conseq of influ, which prev. here during course of summer. Phthis in many inst a conseq of influ which prev. in Brit in 1782. Among other inst may ment two partic friends of mine, Dr Blackburn & Dr D. Lesslie, Phys. in Durham both of whom fell victims to it. Butpres.epid. of 88 as far as my obs. goes has been much more slight And pres the first case which has occured to me where any [troublem] or danger sequel. Even this do not consider as a decided case of Phthisis. But at best an obstin & may even add a danger catarrh. And indeed many inst in end proving Phthis, where for consid length of time less alarm. And such my appreh of Phthis that on this suppos. have begun treatm. With view to this affect have begun patient with Gum Myrrh& Cream of Tart.An artic from which in some former susp inst have I think seen benef. If under this, affect contin progr. many other [pract], which may perhap try. But much reason to fear, that all of little avail.
