No 33. Chris Murray at 40.
Of disease of this patient must own have not yet formd any decided opin. Can however be little doubt that in some degree subj to compl. of affect. But what real nature of some or which chiefly deserves notice a mattr of great ambig. Can have no hesit in assert that in some degree subj to dysp & to catarrh sympt. But both one & other of these in consid only. Have app. a most more distress compl. in febrile affect with which daily attackd. Is ushered in by period cold fit succeeded by heat & sweating And is accomp. by headach anx nausea weakn & other febr. sympt. While at same time in part of day which preceds attacktotalalmost free from any such app. In this then have so far at least the app of interm fever. And of that modif which has name of quotid. Not improb. that shall find this to be case At same time, must also be obs. that same app take place in hect fever of Phthis. And from what have seen of insid nature of Phithis, should not be surp. to find this suppos verif. But this suppos at pres. at least own still less inclind to adopt than former. And think it more probab. merely sympt fever attend of it Fever often attend of catarrh origin from action of cold, the cause to which affect of pres. pat. ascribd. Still oftener of pains of Rheum kind, which very comm. origin from same cause. And of all suppos stated this to me seemd most probab. For here patient subj. to consid pains in diff. parts which seemd to be of that kind. And with these, concom fever often suffers consid exacerb. & remiss. From this idea of affect am disp to form rathr a fav progn. At the same time, from doubt already expressd will readily belief that cannot here speak with much confid. And am also in some degree in same state of uncert. with regard to plan of pract to be pursued. But treatm hitherto empl. directd on idea now stated. And is with view to Rheum affect that have had recourse both to the Guaiac, & to Ungt Tereb. cum Opio. Of these however reserve observ till again come to speak of case. And prob. that shall ere then be able to form more decided opin of case.
