In case of this patient had as before observd, a distinct markd inst of Epilep. And that too without any app. that could be reckond singul, either during parox itself or in preced or conseq. sym. In epilep have a disease for most part very obstin. At least of cases which have fallen under my care a very consid majority have resisted every mode of cure which could empl. And as far as I can learn this also case with other pract. here. At same time am far from looking upon it, as is opin of some as being in every inst an incurab. disease. Am much mist if have not seen some cases yeild to remed And in case of this patient several circum very fav. Partic the affect being of so recent date. Here therefore was not without hopes of recov. And as means of effect this here directed trial of Cupr. Amm. An artic in which copper brought to saline state by means of Vol. Alk. This artic formd into mass with bread [constit] Pil e Cupro of Ednr Pharm. A formula which has now had place in two success edit of Ednr Pharm. Is to me surpr. have neithr introd this nor any othr analog formula in late edition of their Pharm. Nor indeed have they given place to the artic which basis of it. For though Ferrum Ammon yet no Cupr. Amm. And this I own, am for my own part inclind to look upon as a very mattrial omiss. Is indeed an artic of such activ as to require being exhib with caution & in small doses. But in hands of prud pract nothin to be feared from use. Even when [overdosed] only effect sev. vomiting. But where prop. managed one of most powerful tonics. And in Epilep in partic have seen more benef from it than any othr med I have tried. Its use in case of pres. patient may safely venture to assert nothing again it. For took it to extent of a grain in the day without any inconven. At first indeed some sickness at stomach But even somewhat doubtful whethr this arose from pill. For as remark. in even before taking it, as even after morning dose. And while never arose to such heigh as to excite vomiting was but of short contin. While at same time from comm of use no fit or any theating of it, althou these before freq. In so much that after contin of med for two months & during all that perf freedom from affect reckoned farther attend unnecss. And accord. dismissed patient. This indeed would by no means [repor] as [indub] inst of cure by Cupr. Is matter of doubt whether cause of fits was not removed before Cupr begun And supp this not to be case is also matter of doubt whethr Cupr any influ in removing it. At same time seems to me [most] prob. suppos. that without use of Cupr. would have had return of affec And this artic contrib to removal.
