    No28. Janr 8. 1788.

    Katharine McDonald at 31 is at times affected with a severe pain in about the false ribs of the left side which extends from thence to the lumbar region. She complains also of distension of her stomach attended with nausea & frequent vomiting. These symptoms are much alleviated by the discharge of wind. She has also almost constant pain in the left side of the head which reaches to the bottom of the lower jaw, accompanied with vertigo & at times with an inclination to syncope.

    Pulse about 90 low & weak. Belly regular, Appetite good, great dejection of spirits, much debility, Catamenia regular

    These complaints began about eight months ago, & she can assign no probable cause for them.

    She has used a considerable variety of medicines & from some of them she thinks she derivd evident advantage.

    Cap. Pil. Foetid cum Aloe grV om. m. nec non sumat. Mist. Tinct. Aromat ℥ p. bis indies

    The pills keep her belly gently open & since she began her medicine all her symptoms are considerably relieved
