Formerly pron disease of this pat to be an exam of Hyster. occurrring not under form of prop Hyster. fits resemb. those of Epilep. but of what may be calld anom Hyster sympt. And since came under care no reason to alter opin resp. compl. Have even seen what very comm in such inst of Hyster a success of [act] One no sooner yeilding to pract [emp] than anoth succeeds. In this way perhaps hardly any disease of which Hyster may not feign the app. And often can with certainty determ only that not affect which it imitates from such success. In these cases hyster more diffic to comb. than any other. For from sever of partic sympt when they occurr, partic pract must be directed to these. And thus prop. course with view to radic cure can hardly be followed out. This you will accord obs. has been very much case in pres inst. Began here by attempt radic cure from use of Valer. & Zinc. Artic both of which have already had occas to mention. And from both of which think I have seen benef. The one useful as allaying morb actions when they occur. The other as remov. tendency to return. And am upon whole inclind to think that more advant from empl. togeth. than separat. In this state however must be allowed that sometimes excite sickness at stom. For both some tend this way. which prob. encr from conj. Accord with our patient when first begun this effect in some degree took place. Not however to such extent as to excite vomiting. Consid it therfore as no obj to contin of use. And imagind that by short habit would be compl. overcome. After use for space of week [compl] contin nearly in same state as before Now however informd of another occur to which subj viz. Profuse sweats during night This however consid as no obj to contin of med. On contrary seemd ready means of restr. it. Such however [compl] of patient of uneasiness from it that thought it necess to do something farther. And accord had at this time recourse to anoth artic. Use viz of Camph. A subst. which while possess very consid & at same time very pecul active powers often used with adv in Hyster. Espec when app. in anomal forms. Accord with contin of Valer & Zinc directed small dose of Camph evy morning & evening On these med contin for week longer. And at end of that time, though all sympt partic sweatings in [night] much dimin. But very soon after were informd that became affected with very viol vomiting. This she herself attrib to med. And that it may have been so would not deny But at same time, that would have been more probab, if had occurd [soon] than at late period. Did not at this late period happ on any augm of dose. Am for my own part therefore rather disp. to refer it to some accid cause But whether this or conj of patien best founded led to interm of use. And with view of settling, as well as of strength stom, had recourse to mixt with Aromat tinct. Under this vomiting soon subsid. But now anoth sympt superv. Sense viz of burning heat in stom & bowels attended with excess thirst. For this as means of allaying thirst & mitig heat directed solut of Cream of Tart. And imag that in both ways had soon consid effect. Finding however that still contin thought that might be supp. by aromat. And accord directed use of mixt to be intermitted. But notwith this at succeeding report still contin to be much affectd with it. And accord in conj. with solut of Cream Tart. orderd at succeeding report a mixt with diluted vitr. acid From this expectd some effect both in allev these sympt & in strength tone of syst in gener. And accord. some presumpt at least of having influ in first way. For at succeed report both heat & thirst much dimin. Now however compl of anoth new occur. Very great uneasiness viz from flatul. From this led to add to mixt a gentle carmin. And as such had recourse to distilld Pepp. Mint water. With this med has now cont for space of some weeks. And while for some time pat has been little affected with heat & thirst thinks othr sympt. also somewhat easier. In partic sleeps better during night. But notwith this cannot look upon pat as having obt. any matter benef. And have little doubt that in short time will be subj either to return of former of or success of new sympt. Utmost I expect to accompl is to allev those which occur. If any thing [matter] serviceable to her, will in my opin be course of cold bathing. And this accord is intent to recomm [when] season will admit
