    Isabel Dunbar

    (1787-1788)

    No26th Isabel Dunbar. at 42.

When this patient came under care manif cause of disease in ascard in alim canal.

And these disch by anus in consid quant.

And thought it not improb. that this origin of most if not all sympt.

This opin however prob not altog well founded.

At least this may inferr from contin of some sympt after ascard. almost if not altog removed.

But from pract empl. has at least derved very consid adv.

All these however by no means directed to ascarid.

And how far some of them have had influ. in prod any share of benef may perhaps be matter of doubt.

Must also add that in some a good deal disapp.

This however will more partic app. from short review of them.

As ascarid prin seated at rectum is cheifly by inject that to be comb.

And as one of most effect I have before empl. had here recours to lime water

Need hardly add that while very gener. effic is also perf. safe.

While directed this however with view to stom compl. had also recourse to mixt with bitter & arom tinct.

An artic of which have already ofn than once, had occas to speak.

After mixt stom compl. somewhat allev.

And at first some app. of remov of ascarid by the inject.

But in short time app. again in as great numb as before.

Prob. want of success in some degree effect of imperf admin.

For accord to her own acct, inject seldom retaind for above five min.

And during this time but little opport of acting.

While on these med a new & prob an accid occur took place.

A febrile access. viz. termin in a phlegmon.

And this landing in suppurat. under use howevr of ordin dressing soon heald by operat of syst. itself.

And now almost free from stom comp

But still much distressd with headach

As a means both of reliev this & as remed for cathard ascarid had recourse to Pills with Camphor.

Cannot howevr say that in either very much affect.

At least while little allev of headach no farther influ on worms than that of disch.

As howevr reason to susp. that Camph. might not reach worms with suff activ as taken by mouth [direc] it also in form of inject. as diff in oil.

From this much more effect than from former pract.

For from this very cop. disch of ascard & for some time after no app of them.

While in every other resp. much better.

Still however a good deal distressd with headach & not entirely free from app of ascard.

But hope that remains of compl. may in no long time be over come.

And case at least serves to shew influence of inject of Camph agan ascard. even [where] Lime water empl. without success.
