    No10th Nov 20th 1787.

    Elizabeth Clark at 59, complains of acute pain affecting her whole head, but it particularly extends itself in the course of the coronal suture & often strikes downwards to her ears, sometimes to her jaws. It is in general aggravated when she becomes warm in bed. She is often affected with pain in her stomach from its being distended with wind, & she is sometimes affected with sickness & vomiting. She has also at times severe pain in her side. She seldom discharges wind either by eructation or flatus.

    Pulse about 76 low & weak, Belly costive, much thirst, Appetite much impaird, strength diminishd, Menses irregular & in less quantity than usual.

    These complaints first became severe about two months ago. She can attribute them to no particular cause; but she observes that her headach is most severe when her stomach is distended with flatus She has used no medicines.

    Cap. Pil. Foetid cum Aloe gr V om. m.

    The pills gently opened her belly & occasiond a considerable discharge of wind. Her headach & all her other symptoms are much relievd.

    Decr 1.

    Has in general a stool every day from the pills. But rather bound.

    She has been much affected during the course of last week, both with uneasiness from wind & severe headach.

    Her belly has been very bound notwithstanding the use of the Pills. And she has been much affected with wind in her bowels & severe headach.

    Cont. Mist. cum Tinct. Arom. u. a. nec non sumat. Pil. ex Colocyn cum Aloe gr X. altern. quag. noet. Interm. Pil Foetid cum Aloe

    The purgative pill in general produces two or three loose stools

    Her headach has been easier. But she complains much of the pain in her stomach & bowels.

    Is still at times affected with the uneasiness at stomach but is now entirely free from the headach
