Sympts which occur in this patients case, such as take place in many diff. affect. And cannot be said to constit any partic disease. And am I own at some loss with regard to real nature of affect. Has however arrived at that period of life when menst. [usuall] comm. And sympt here taking place what often attend. of amenorr. Well known however that same sympt often arise from want of natu disch as are conseq. of obstruct. And too this some reason to [pres] that pres sympt to be ascribd. Am I own disp. to view it as an example of Amenorrh. And of that modif. which stild Amenorr. emansionis. At same time must be allowd that menses often wanting from condit of syst. And that here want of disch in place of cause of affect. may be merely symptom. Must also admit, that patient has merely arrived to period of common app. And that in many inst much later without any uneasiness. Hence may be altog. unconn. with state of disch. And at least must be allowed that no regular or period aggrav of sympt. From all these consid then the induct of menst. flux not only obj to be had in view. At same time even allowing that want of disch. neither cause nor conseq of sympt. yet highly prob. that app. would make consid change on nature of affect. And am in hopes that by occur. under our care, pres sympt may entirely disapp. While at same time not improb that this event may take place although no menst. for consid time to come. And upon whole hopes as to termin of this case rather favour than otherwise. In cure endeav. naturally employd, to counteract such sympt as at the time most urgent. To endeav to restore gener. health & vigour to system. And finally to give such determin of blood to uterine vessels, as may at least forward natural tenden to disch. Is with this view that have directd a mixture with aromat &vegetbitters. conj. And that had recourse to employm of aloet. pills. Of lattr however operat so brisk that have been oblige to disist from empl. While pains so urgent as to lead to topic applic. But of these shall afterwards [spe] more fully when treat of case at greatr length.
